Artemis Romanov von Schnitzel

Over the past 15 years, I have worked at the intersection of journalism, product management, design, and software development. I have experimented with new processes and storytelling forms to reach wider audiences and promote positive engagement through content innovation, data, and automation.

I started in journalism, then evolved. I have covered three presidential election cycles in the US, managed a newsroom, designed content management systems, user journeys, and AI-based engagement systems based on user personalization. I have built APIs and managed datasets. I have applied for and obtained grants from Google to leverage AI for churn reduction and help journalists write more compelling stories with the help of an AI dashboard.

I like to wear many hats, often two or three at a time, and still hope to change the world with big ideas and small steps.

I have had the privilege of working in a multicultural and diverse environment with a strong commitment to gender and racial equality. I deeply share the goals of the Trust Project, where I work, in promoting high-quality, accountable journalism that serves the public interest. The views and opinions shared in this blog, however, should to be considered solely my own.

In my spare time, I write sci-fi novels, sitting under the cherry tree on my Brooklyn balcony, next to my dog, Artemis Romanov von Schnitzel, PhD. I am currently working on my second book. If you are an agent with a knack for anime-inspired adventures in space, you may contact me at anderland [at] me [dot] com. If you are not a book agent and wish to contact me for any other reason, that's a pity, but you may use the same address. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
